Project Description

For my introduction to graduate school, our studio was asked to construct a lamp of any kind. My goal was to create the highest quality lamp at the lowest cost, so I employed birch plywood for both its structural and aesthetic character. After the midterm, we were tasked with translating our designs into architecture. I decided to redesign the arm of the lamp into a functional cable-stayed roof, creating an open horizontal plane free of interior support. By allowing the structure to cantilever from the bluff, this freedom is further accentuated. Each window is a glass pivot door allowing the facade to open and close freely.

These projects were both individual. Modelling was done in Rhino and renders were completed in Twinmotion.
